Saturday, August 10. 2018 was the 5th Street Social on Historic Route 6, Coralville. The Classy Chassy Cruisers were invited to Host the Classic Cars Show N Shine by the Coralville Recreation Center.  Registration began check in on 10th Avenue and was from 4p to 8p. There were 36 classic and unique autos lining 5th Street. The 5th Street Social is in it's third year and this is a celebration of the end of summer with music, food, children's activities, classic car Show n' Shine, an ice cream social, and local brews at Coralville's 5th Street.

In the 50's, 60's and 70's, a street dance would happen right on Historic Route 6, now 5th Street. They wanted to bring those classic cars to this event that showed up then. There were many classic cars events going on at this time in the area. All participants were given a "5th Street Social on Historic Route 6" blue ribbon. There were many spectators that viewed the cars and talked to the owners.

CCC did a 50/50 drawing for Iowa City Hospice.   The 50/50 collected $118 and the lucky ticket holder was spectator Steven Behrens, Toddville, Iowa. He went home with $58. Iowa City Hospice is Classy Chassy Cruisers charity and they will get $60. Other ticket holders were drawn and took home door prizes from $10 Dairy Queen gift cards and other auto related items.

It was a warm day, and many enjoyed the shade, the ice cream, and the other foods offered.

We thank Nick and Deb Chelf, Gary and Joni Werle, Mitchel Shingledecker, Mark and Donna Heacock for setting up, Registration/goody bags and CCC Display tables. Thanks to those who helped tear down and  Charles Landuyt. Thanks to Mitchel Shingledecker for taking photos.
